5 Months

It has been quite an adventure so far with Aaron being 5 months old now. Of course he did just turn 5 months last Monday, but still it's been exciting. Just a couple of days ago he discovered his voice. He now LOVES to scream!  His teething has started to get worse than what it usually is, we feel so bad for our little man, because we can only do so much to keep him comfortable and pain free. He has sticky hands now, and everything he can get his hands on goes straight to the mouth, and I do mean EVERYTHING, even mommy's hair, and let me tell ya he has quite a grip when it comes to grabbing hair.

About two weeks ago he rolled over for the first time from his tummy to back, I was in complete shock! I must say though that I had a feeling, mother's intuition is setting in I guess. He just looked at me and laughed after he did it, a couple of days after that big accomplishment, he rolled from his back to his tummy, which is his least favorite thing to do, he gets upset once he is on his tummy though.

Motherhood has been amazing! I found myself looking at Aaron the other day, and all of the sudden I started to cry. I just couldn't believe that such a little person could bring so much joy to my life. He just makes my life complete. The best thing in the world is to hear his little laugh, it's music to my ears!  Lately in the last month, he has gotten to where he grabs my face with his tiny hands and pulls me in for a kiss, I get lots of kisses along with a smile.

There have been times lately that I get into a dark place I will admit, and a lot of it has to do with school. It's during those times that I take a look at my son and realize that what happened with school is no big deal at this point, because I now have this little man who loves me unconditionally and relys on me for everything. Being a mother has taught me so much. God is amazing in the way he works in our lives, because I know it's all part of his plan, I just have to be patient and enjoy the ride, because I know eventually I will get where I need to be when it comes to having a career.

This Week = Success!

This week was very successful with Aaron.  Tuesday night he slept in his crib for a full night and finally started eating all of his oatmeal without the fruit!  We were both very hesitant about the crib the first night, only because his room is across the apartment, and we didn't have a baby monitor.  So, yes I was a typical first time mother and slept on the couch on high alert, but of course not without some tears first.  Aaron slept like a champ that first night and in a way after the crying and hesitancy, it was a little bit of a relief.  We now have a baby monitor that Patricia (grandma) bought us, and we are very thankful for that!

The oatmeal has been a challenge for Aaron to take on a daily basis, especially with a spoon.  This week though he finally ate all of the oatmeal without spitting it out, or needing me to put any fruit in it for him to actually want to taste it.  Andrew and I realized that in just a few short weeks he will be five months old, then of course six months, and before too long we will be celebrating his first birthday!  This is all going by so fast, but we are enjoying every bit of it!  Not a day goes by where Aaron doesn't surprise us with something new.  He has turned into our little Curious George.

Time for Oatmeal

Well, the time has come for Aaron to try out oatmeal or rice.  First we tried the rice and well that did not go over so well.  I figured that since he had been getting rice in his bottles for a "nightime" bottle that I could make it a little more thicker than that.  Nope!  He ended up spitting it out every time I would put the spoon in his mouth.  I later got advice that oatmeal would probably be better, so my next trip to the store I buy oatmeal.  I made it as directed on the box for babies for feeding and well I got the same result!  The next piece of advice I received was to add a little bit of baby fruit to it, so I bought applesauce and bananas.  Today we tried the bananas in the oatmeal and he showed some faces.  So I remade it and this time added the applesauce.  Of course I couldn't feed it to him fast enough and well he became frustrated and threw a fit!  So, needless to say I have yet to have a successful feeding of oatmeal.
