Approaching Two

It is safe to say I am not very good at this blogging thing.  It has been over a year since I have blogged anything!  We are three days away from officially having a two year old, and let me tell you it has been an adventure.  He is starting to have a big attitude with mom and dad, temper tantrums are in full swing and the over all not wanting to listen is an every day thing.  Yes, we are in the terrible twos!

Aaron is always full of surprises, he learns something everyday!  For Christmas he got his own TV to watch his Mickey Mouse and Elmo.  Before we knew it he could start the DVD on his own, take it out and put in a different one, turn the DVD player and TV off.  It was just crazy how much he caught on to in such little time.  Currently Mickey Mouse and Elmo just don't do it for him anymore, now its The Big Bang Theory.  He is always asking for Sheldon!  Of course once we turn it on he goes on with his playing and running around, but as long as its playing he is good.  Now that we are in warmer weather we are outside almost every day playing.  He is so good at recognizing relatives and saying who is who when we are around family.  He hasn't mastered everyone quite yet, but he is getting there.  It is safe to say that he is just like his momma and is very shy.  He will talk and talk about someone and as soon as we see that person, he doesn't say a word!

As for mom and dad right now, we are just living life and thankful for all the wonderful blessings God has given us.  We are trying to get into the swing of going to church every weekend, Saturday or Sunday.  We attended Trinity Fellowship for Easter service and Aaron loved the music.  I feel like that is just where we belong right now, the people are great and very welcoming.  We started the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace a couple of weeks ago and are so excited to start saving up money and going into full effect of the "debt snowball."  I have my sister to thank for introducing us to him.  It is very hard to get started on, but in just the first couple of weeks I feel accomplished!  I highly recommend his books to anyone looking for that little push.

It has been two and a half years since I have been in school.  There were a lot of downs trying to get through that situation.  I recently found out that I will be able to go to Clovis Community College to finish my RN.  I only have to retake my sciences since they are greater than five years and after that I can get started.  God has done amazing things!  I ask that you all please keep me in your prayers as I prepare for this journey.

Our Journey So Far

Well it seems that I am pretty behind on keeping up with this thing. Aaron is now 10 months old and very mobile! He has been crawling since he was 7 months old and is starting to figure out walking. It is almost impossible to get him to sit down to watch a tv show these days, and if he does, he has to be very close to the tv. I'm seeing glasses in our future possibly. Momma has become one of favorite words along with dada. Eating three meals a day is not a problem for at our house. It seems like we can get him to eat almost anything. Now when we go to eat at Mexican food restaurants, I have to get beans with my meal just for him. Oh the things a mother will do for her baby.

We recently just got over RSV :( it was a very trying time having Aaron that sick, but I am grateful we caught it when we did. It's amazing the things he has picked up in just a few short months. The other day Andrew got to see one of his funny faces, there is nothing better than sharing a good laugh.

We are approaching the closing date on our house, yay! It's been a long time coming, but very much worth the wait. The house we got is perfect for our little family. The minute we walked in to see it, I knew that was our home and we couldn't be more excited. We are very blessed and very thankful for all that has happened to us.

6 Months

It's a little hard to believe that Aaron is already 6 months old, we never thought 6 months would go by this fast!  He has become quite the rollie pollie around the apartment and is learning to sit up on his own, which makes me a little sad, because he is getting to be such a big boy and not really a baby baby anymore.  Around the first week in October, he cut two teeth, at the same time!  Andrew has been telling me that every time I complain that he is behind on something he comes back and does it 2x what he is suppose to, so I guess I should stop.

He has recently picked up on how to say "dada" and "momma," which is music to our ears!  He is a champ when it comes to eating solid foods, he loves mostly single ingredients when it comes to vegetables but will eat mixed fruits, he's already picky like mommy and daddy lol.

5 Months

It has been quite an adventure so far with Aaron being 5 months old now. Of course he did just turn 5 months last Monday, but still it's been exciting. Just a couple of days ago he discovered his voice. He now LOVES to scream!  His teething has started to get worse than what it usually is, we feel so bad for our little man, because we can only do so much to keep him comfortable and pain free. He has sticky hands now, and everything he can get his hands on goes straight to the mouth, and I do mean EVERYTHING, even mommy's hair, and let me tell ya he has quite a grip when it comes to grabbing hair.

About two weeks ago he rolled over for the first time from his tummy to back, I was in complete shock! I must say though that I had a feeling, mother's intuition is setting in I guess. He just looked at me and laughed after he did it, a couple of days after that big accomplishment, he rolled from his back to his tummy, which is his least favorite thing to do, he gets upset once he is on his tummy though.

Motherhood has been amazing! I found myself looking at Aaron the other day, and all of the sudden I started to cry. I just couldn't believe that such a little person could bring so much joy to my life. He just makes my life complete. The best thing in the world is to hear his little laugh, it's music to my ears!  Lately in the last month, he has gotten to where he grabs my face with his tiny hands and pulls me in for a kiss, I get lots of kisses along with a smile.

There have been times lately that I get into a dark place I will admit, and a lot of it has to do with school. It's during those times that I take a look at my son and realize that what happened with school is no big deal at this point, because I now have this little man who loves me unconditionally and relys on me for everything. Being a mother has taught me so much. God is amazing in the way he works in our lives, because I know it's all part of his plan, I just have to be patient and enjoy the ride, because I know eventually I will get where I need to be when it comes to having a career.

This Week = Success!

This week was very successful with Aaron.  Tuesday night he slept in his crib for a full night and finally started eating all of his oatmeal without the fruit!  We were both very hesitant about the crib the first night, only because his room is across the apartment, and we didn't have a baby monitor.  So, yes I was a typical first time mother and slept on the couch on high alert, but of course not without some tears first.  Aaron slept like a champ that first night and in a way after the crying and hesitancy, it was a little bit of a relief.  We now have a baby monitor that Patricia (grandma) bought us, and we are very thankful for that!

The oatmeal has been a challenge for Aaron to take on a daily basis, especially with a spoon.  This week though he finally ate all of the oatmeal without spitting it out, or needing me to put any fruit in it for him to actually want to taste it.  Andrew and I realized that in just a few short weeks he will be five months old, then of course six months, and before too long we will be celebrating his first birthday!  This is all going by so fast, but we are enjoying every bit of it!  Not a day goes by where Aaron doesn't surprise us with something new.  He has turned into our little Curious George.

Time for Oatmeal

Well, the time has come for Aaron to try out oatmeal or rice.  First we tried the rice and well that did not go over so well.  I figured that since he had been getting rice in his bottles for a "nightime" bottle that I could make it a little more thicker than that.  Nope!  He ended up spitting it out every time I would put the spoon in his mouth.  I later got advice that oatmeal would probably be better, so my next trip to the store I buy oatmeal.  I made it as directed on the box for babies for feeding and well I got the same result!  The next piece of advice I received was to add a little bit of baby fruit to it, so I bought applesauce and bananas.  Today we tried the bananas in the oatmeal and he showed some faces.  So I remade it and this time added the applesauce.  Of course I couldn't feed it to him fast enough and well he became frustrated and threw a fit!  So, needless to say I have yet to have a successful feeding of oatmeal.

3 Months Going on 4!

Well since the last blog post, Aaron has discovered his voice, how to jump up and down in his jumper and still loves his hands in his mouth.  He is working on rolling from his tummy to his back, but not fully there yet.  He has been sleeping through the night still, about 8 hours at a time, but it seems that he will sleep way more for daddy than he will for me.  Today was one of the first times I actually made Aaron laugh out loud numerous times and it was like music to my ears!   He is unofficially around 15 to 16 lbs I think and around 26 to 27 inches long!  His 4 month check up is next Tuesday so we will see if our numbers are close to right.  Now that football season has started, he is loving it!!!  He recognizes his name now when its called and is very curious, daddy and I call him curious george, he he :)

It is already almost time to upgrade to a bigger car seat, he has figured out how to sit up in his current on as a way of telling us he wants out and well sometimes he can't sit back and stays uncomfortable in the car until we stop and see him, which I do not like at all!  I have a couple of videos and pictures I would like to share that were taken recently, hope you enjoy!
